You have to provide as much information as possible in your question for somebody to provide you a valid answer! If proper information is not provided then even the simplest of question would suddenly start looking very hard for the readers. Assume of a question like this in one of our India based forums. "What is the shortest route to reach Tidel park" So is this an easier question or a tougher question? How do the readers know from where are you starting? How would they know whether you wanted to take a public transport or you have a private vehicle so you are expecting a short cut route? Please remember the readers can just read the question written there and cannot read your mind as well. For past few days my laptop got quite a few malwares / virus. I somehow got it cleaned using few free anti-virus softwares / with the help of various articles in the Internet. During the course of research!!! I stumbled upon a very interesting article on how to make use of your HOST file to protect your machine. Check out http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm This Host file for Windows, has entries to block ads, banners, 3rd party Cookies, 3rd party page counters, web bugs, and even most web browser hijackers. This is accomplished by blocking the internet connection to malware sites. But one thing which I have noticed as of now is my laptop has become slightly slower after replacing my old HOST file with the new file given in that site. I was going through the "Top 20 things Programmers says to Testers!" . Its really funny and brought back lot of memories. Out of the 20, i need to admit I use these excuses very often :) 18. "It worked yesterday!" 12. "You must have a wrong version" 1. "It works on my machine" The other excuses which I use or heard people using it are: 1. The issue isn't reproducable. 2. It's designed to work that way! 3. You know we have done it as a value add ourself! there is no spec for this. 4. It's been fixed long time back. May be you are looking into a wrong version! 5. You know its not because of our layer! It's an error in the "Service Layer" which another team needs to look at. 6. I don't think its a show stopper. How about fixing it in the next release? Do you have a say on this?

As per RBI regulation I guess all banks should have a "Do Not Distrub Me" or "Do not call me" :) web page inorder to value customers privacy. I get atleast couple of telemarketing calls a day from one bank or other. Its really irritating and i was looking for a way to avoid them totally. Only then i came to know about these "Don't call registeration pages" for various banks. Looooong Live RBI :) :) 1. ICICI Bank - As per the site itseems it would take 15 days for the number to be removed from the telemarketing list! 2. Citibank -- I didn't find the time frame in this site. 3. Deutsche bank -- As per the site itseems it would take 30 days for the number to be removed from the telemarketing list! 4. Standard Chartered Bank -- As per the site itseems it would take 30 days for the number to be removed from the telemarketing list! 5. I tried out few searches - the results and performance are really impressive. The search strings which i tried are as follows: 1. Pizza Adyar 2. I created a new blog ( http://sailakshmi-vadivel.blogspot.com ) in order to test out the upgraded version of blogger.com List of features which I have noticed so far: 1. One feature which was there in my wish list for quite a long time is "Creating categories or Labels" for blog posts. That has been implemented in this new version. 2. They have implemented "Web parts" partially. i.e., the owner / admin of the blog can customize the look and feel of the site with ease. They can add new "Page elements" and/or rearrange existing items within the page layout with the help of a mouse itself. 3. No need to create a new username / password and remember it all the time. We can use our GMail account itself for managing our blogspace also. At last my blog is accessible now within India too. Thanks to Indian Government and ISP's!!!

Now its 21st July here and still vadivel.blogspot.com is inaccessible directly! I am wondering "Why would one need 48 hours to lift this ban!!!!?" . To my knowledge this move by the Government of India has only backfired. Most of the people wouldn't have perturbed to read those 17 odd actual sites which Govt was intending to block. But now since it is blocked many people would be very snooping to know what is written their :) So in turn Government is driving traffic to those banned sites without their knowledge. Now people across the world know what is India's answer to terrorism --- "Ban Blogs". Great!! Guess what could be the next step towards anti-terrorism policy of Indian Government --- "BAN THE INTERNET" !!!! Let the God save Indian democracy.

Since yesterday I am not able to access my blog. Initially i thought it could be because of some problem with their server! I was able to login to blogger.com and create or edit posts but not able to visit my own blogspace :) As this error wasn't resolved for more than few hours I thought there is something fishy. So I started to look for more information on this with the help of "Google". In that process, I understood that the Indian ISPs have blocked .blogspot.com, .typepad and .geocities domain's completely. It's really strange to know that Govt has issued orders to block it. Government seems to claim that "Terrorists are using this channel to communicate freely amongst themself". No second thoughts on saying "Terrorists links needs to be broken". But the solution they have implemented is totally ruthless. This is something like burning the whole house just because we have too much of mosquitoes in the house!!!!
