Microsoft announced a “ BlogStar ” contest last year and the winners were announced in the first week of November 2006. How do I know that I am one among the winners? On November 5 or 6th I got a call from one Ms. Bharathi claiming to be working in Microsoft. The number from which she called is 91-80-65605725. She said that I have won a prize and needed my size and full contact address to ship a jerkin. As the line wasn't clear I couldn't hear properly for what exactly is this gift for? But at that time Blogstar was the only Microsoft competition I was participating so I presumed it to be that. So, you got a call from Microsoft employee and hope you have received your prize as well! What else are you asking for? Excuse me :) As the female's communication was not that professional I thought its some spam caller and asked her to mail me the reason for requesting my contact address so that I can communicate my address back to her official ID. Wow I am really excited to know that i am one among the Top 20 Microsoft India BlogStar winners :) Check out http://www.microsoft.com/india/blogstars/winners.aspx On the flipside, I am bit disappointed that I didn't make it to the Top 5 :( Because the Top 5 guys gets a chance to meet Steve Ballmer in Mumbai tomorrow. But overall this Month seems to be a really good one to me :) Because starting from November 1st, 2006 till date i have got 3 awards/gifts (including this) from various technology related sites. I am glad that few minutes back i came to know that I have won the 1st prize in Community-credit for the month of October 2006. Just now, I received a mail from Abhishek Kant (MVP Lead) stating that "I have been awarded the MVP (Microsoft Most Valuable Professional) in SQL Server" . Wow nice to know that I got nominated again. Let me take this opportunity to thank Abhi and all those who were involved in this selection process :) Btw, for those who are not aware, I was a MVP in ASP.NET for 2 years (2003-2004 and 2004-2005) and I lost it last year. Offlate, I was more inclined towards SQL Server and I am glad to receive my nomination on that category itself. A co-incidence is Deepak have also got nominated as a MVP in ASP.NET. If my memory is right, he was also a MVP for 2 years (at that time he was a MVP in C#) and lost it in 2004 or 2005.
